Salomé Brown Gooding is a retired communication’s executive. After an active career of more than 30 years in the fields of publishing, public relations and communications, Salome spent more than ten years running her and her husband’s Malcolm Gooding’s guest house in the Franschhoek Valley.

She started her career as a journalist with Beeld newspaper in 1976 after finishing an Honours degree in Communication and Public Relations at the University of the Northwest.

Her love for writing stems from a young age when she created her own “magazines” which she wrote and illustrated by hand and sold for 5c a copy on the playground.

After 15 years in journalism, an offer from SABMiller launched her career in Public Relations and Communications in 1990. She played a pivotal role in the group’s listing on the London Stock Exchange, helped to establish SABMiller as one of the world’s leading companies in terms of Corporate Communications and Governance, and the Annual Reports produced by the group during her tenure won many awards.

In 2001 she joined Altron Electronics Group as Corporate Communications Executive where she concentrated on shareholder, investors’ and media relations.

While running Gooding’s Groves Olive Farm and Guest house, she also worked as a communication’s consultant for various South African listed companies.

She officially retired in February 2018 and spends her time reading and preparing for various
writing projects…
